No one understands this better than Alexandra Macon, cofounder of the popular wedding website Over The Moon (and Vogue’s resident Wedding Editor). She’s interviewed countless brides, looked at hundreds of white gowns, and edited thousands of wedding photos. She’s seen it all—so it takes something really special to surprise her. “Today, bridal shopping isn’t just about searching for ‘the one’ [dress],” she says. “Of course finding your wedding dress is important, but now the wedding wardrobe encompasses so much more than what you wear down the aisle. With more and more weddings being posted as they’re happening, even your prep time is a highly Instagram-able, portrait-mode-worthy moment that practically requires a look for the bride and her bridesmaids.”
The Fall 2019 bridal season wrapped last month, and a common refrain among the designers Vogue Runway interviewed was that brides are no longer just buying one gown—they’re shopping for an entire suite of ivory, cream, white, and blush looks to wear in the days (or weeks) leading up to (and following) their walk down the aisle. In the age of Instagram and wedding hashtags, a bride might need a party dress for her rehearsal dinner; a jumpsuit or slip dress to change into for her reception; a low-key minidress for the morning-after brunch; and a few looks to pack for her honeymoon, while she’s at it. Every moment is up for documentation these days, all the better to fill out your wedding album—whether it’s a “real” one with laminated pages or a virtual one online, where those photos will ostensibly live forever.
Lauren has a long history in the United Kingdom, as a friend of Prince Charles. He has attended numerous events with the royals and also dressed Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, for several appearances. Earlier this year, Lauren’s corporation continued its philanthropic efforts in the U.K. with the opening of the Ralph Lauren Centre for Breast Cancer Research at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. When it comes to getting dressed in the morning, Nicolette Mason has her fashion uniform all figured out. “My go-to formula has always been a dress with a leather jacket,” says Mason, speaking over the phone from Los Angeles. As an O.G. plus-size content creator, Mason commands a social media following in the hundreds of thousands, but she’s more than an influencer. A former contributor to Teen Vogue and entrepreneur, she’s dedicated her career to leading the way for inclusivity within fashion—and that makes her latest project all the more meaningful. Together with Veda founder Lyndsey Butler, Mason has curated a capsule exclusively for 11 Honoré, the luxury shopping site, that features a trend focused assortment of Butler-designed pieces now offered up to size 20. For Mason, a longtime friend of Butler and 11 Honoré's CEO Patrick Herning , the project was the perfect confluence of events. “I had been in touch with Lyndsey for a while because she was very interested in extending her sizes, so it just naturally came together,” she says. “I loved how organic it was, nothing about [our collaboration] was forced.”
